Thank you so much for taking the time out to visit our website!   In the trying times that we are living in, we are so very lucky to have the dedicated volunteer clinical social workers, Norwalk Community College Human Services Interns, Volunteers, and a very small group of those of us who make it all happen, our Board of Directors.

I've walked a mile in a lot of the shoes of the single parent households in poverty that we serve.  From being raised in a foster home (and spending weekends with my natural Mom), to raising two children on my own (one with autism), to fighting for services that me and my family are entitled to, just to survive.

I know what it feels like to be discouraged, not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel, and wanting to give up, but it is my children, and so many other families that look to us for emotional support and direction that always has, and always will keep me focused and enthusiastic about continuing the path to helping families just like mine, obtain the resources they need, and deserve, to make a better life for themselves and their children.

Since 2006 Breakthrough Options For Families, Inc. has been providing advocacy and mentoring services for single parent families in poverty.   We run girls and boys groups for enrolled children ages 8-16.  We work with families to help navigate through private and public social service entities to make sure that their basic needs are being met.  We believe that it is optimal and a priority to teach families not to give up, to keep making phone calls, to keep following up, to make sure that they have clear communication lines with school personnel and service providers, so that they may obtain the confidence and diligence to eventually advocate for themselves but still be able to call on us if need be.

Since our inception, we have been successful in receiving small donations (some cash, some in-kind) from entities like First County Bank, St. Marks Episcopal Church, St. Aloyisius Roman Catholic Church, Stew Leonards, The Sono Field House, Mother of Multiples, Wal-Mart, Stop & Shop, Calvary Baptist Church, St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Diamond Deli, The American Steak House and other private donors that support our mission and what we do.

We are still very much in need of help! We desperately need volunteer mentors, advocates, grant writers, drivers to and from events, and cash donations now more than ever. Donating as little as 2 hours a month of your precious time can make a huge difference in the lives of these single parents and children that we serve.

Please email us at boffusa@gmail.com or call us at 203-981-2000 or 203-722-2178 to find out exactly how you can help.  We cherish our volunteers and treat them with the utmost valuable respect.  You cannot put a price on time, and every moment that passes by, our children are growing and in need of positive role models and "behind the scenes" dedicated individuals.  Please join us in our mission to improve the quality of life for single parent families who are in crisis, in poverty and who are at-risk and/or under represented in the greater Norwalk area.

Best Regards,
